Growing for health

Learning how to garden.
Learning how to garden
We have teaching gardens at various parks around Manukau.
Participants get allocated a 5m x 5m gardening plot for a whole season (summer or winter). They are then taught basic gardening techniques from seed germination, to growing and harvesting.

Participants are able to keep any produce grown and are encouraged to incorporate at home the techniques learned.

Access to a gardening plot is free and the following resources are supplied:

  • Gardening tools
  • Seeds and plants
  • On-site mentors
