We're introducing a rubbish wheelie bin service in the former Manukau City Council area.
If you're in the former Manukau City Council area, you'll receive your new bin between June and August. The bin will be left outside your property, and will have an address label attached. Bring the bin inside your property as soon as possible after it is delivered.
You'll need to start using the bin for your rubbish from the week beginning Monday 4th September. Rubbish bags left on the berm will not be collected after this date. Your collection day will stay the same.
The new bin holds 120 litres of rubbish, which is about the same as 2-3 black rubbish bags. We recommend trying the smaller bin to see if it suits your needs before requesting the larger bin.
If the 120 litre bin is still not big enough, you can order a larger bin online.
If ordering a larger bin you’ll need to pay an invoice of $55. This will be an ongoing charge that will then be applied to your rates from the 2018/19 rating year. As this additional charge will be incurred, only the ratepayer can request the larger bin. If you're renting, you need to contact your landlord or property manager to have them request the larger bin on your behalf.
If you ordered a larger bin after 12 June, or are ordering one now, your larger bin will be exchanged with your smaller 120L bin during October/November. You will need to use your smaller 120L bin until the larger one is delivered.
