Most transfer stations accept garden waste, large household waste, hazardous household waste and scrap metal but you should check what you can take before you go.

The Waitakere Transfer Station together with the Resource Recovery Centre offer a discount on selected items. Refer to the Shop Discount Policy (PDF 89KB) for information.
Some hazardous waste, such as; batteries, computers, paint, fridges, some chemicals and light bulbs are accepted in household quantities with no extra charge.
Hazardous waste such as; asbestos, medical waste, ballasts (including fluorescent light fittings), and waste likely to create excessive dust or particles is not accepted.

Free scrap wood, suitable for a variety of purposes, is available from the transfer station throughout the year. All the wood has been recovered from the waste stream.
