OMAC is located within the heart of the Otara township and offers the Otara community:

In 1988, the former Manukau City Council became the first council to administer a facility specially for musicians. Over the years, OMAC has hosted both local and international music talent.

OMAC Sound Lab

  • Introduction to music technology for children of all ages
  • Classes tailored to the national curriculum
  • Cutting edge multimedia production suite where students can record their own demo CD
  • Extensive range of music creation software
  • Global association with 60 Sound Lab facilities in operation worldwide
  • Hands-on learning for all students to create unique masterpieces with the aid of 120 instruments on loop.

School groups (maximum of 30 students) can book for daytime or weekend sessions.

Village Recording Studio

OMAC is one of only two local government funded community centres that boasts a recording studio.

We provide a friendly and creative environment that allows aspiring artists to focus on their musical dream. The recording studio is open to community groups, choirs, school groups, bands and individual musicians.

Technician Dave Letoa, Village Recording StudionOMAC offers the same facilities and level of professional service to the community as well as to serious musicians who are working on a product for commercial release. Village Recording Studio can be booked for evenings and extended hours by arrangement.

Bruce Ball, piano/keyboard tutorOur tutors offer group and one-on-one lessons in guitar, bass, drums, singing and piano/keyboard.

Hall and room hire

The main hall is a rehearsal and performance space available for hire, and is suitable for music, dance and other performing arts. With a capacity of 150 it is fully equipped with a lighting rig, sound system, green room, boxed staging, and kitchen facilities.
