27 September 2013 - Hauraki Gulf Islands Section becomes operative

At its meeting on 19 September 2013, the Auckland Council resolved to declare the Proposed Auckland Council District Plan (Hauraki Gulf Islands Section) – operative in part pursuant to clause 17 (2) of Schedule 1 of the Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA).

In accordance with clause 20 (1) of Schedule 1 of the RMA the Proposed Auckland Council District Plan (Hauraki Gulf Islands 2013) becomes ‘operative in part’ on 7 October 2013.

The Auckland Council District Plan – Hauraki Gulf IslandsSection – Operative 2013 replaces the existing 1996 Hauraki Gulf Islands District Plan and is one of the first second-generation plans to be made operative in New Zealand.

This plan will be the most relevant resource management plan in the Hauraki Gulf Islands until the Unitary Plan is amended to include the area governed by the Hauraki Gulf Islands district plan. The current operative regional plans and the regional plan provisions of the proposed Unitary Plan will also apply to the
Hauraki Gulf Islands.

  • Great Barrier Island Service Centre, Claris, Great Barrier Island
  • Waiheke Service Centre, 14 Belgium Street, Ostend, Waiheke Island
  • Waiheke Library, 2 Korora Road, Oneroa, Waiheke Island.
