At its meeting on 22 March 2012, Auckland Council resolved to adopt plan modifications 34, 36, 42 and 53 to the Central Area Section of the district plan following the completion of the statutory processes.

  • Plan modification 34 Hauraki Gulf Islands Marine Park Act 2000

The plan change amends the district plan by inserting reference to the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park Act 2000, and providing for appropriate recognition of the national significance of the Hauraki Gulf.

The plan change has been amended as a consequence of a decision by the council on 21 October 2012, with minor wording changes to Part 2 (District Plan Development) and Part 3 (Resource Management) only.

  • Plan modification 36: Learning Quarter: Area 1

The plan change replaces the existing Tertiary Education Precinct provisions with a new set of provisions referred to as “Learning Quarter: Area 1”. The new planning provisions provide for growth and change in education activities, formulate development controls sympathetic to the special character of the University of Auckland (UoA) and Auckland University of Technology (AUT) campuses, and recognise the importance of tertiary activities in the Auckland Central Area.

The plan change has been amended as a consequence of a consent order issued by the Environment Court on 16 February 2012.

  • Plan modification 42: Bonus Floor Area

The plan change amends, consolidates and removes some bonus features, increases the maximum ratio limit allowed for use of the heritage floor space bonus, and alters the standards and assessment criteria for some bonuses.

The plan change has been amended as a consequence of a decision by the council on 16 December 2011, with changes to Rule 6.7.2.5 Register of heritage floor space bonus, Rule 6.7.3 Explanation of heritage floor space bonus, Rule 6.7.6.9 Conditions of obtaining heritage floor space bonus, and Rule 6.7.5.1 Standards for use and transfer of heritage floor space bonus.

  • Plan modification 53: 71-75 Grafton Road, Grafton (Private Plan Change)

Plan modification 53 amends the district plan by altering the boundary of the Central Area to remove the site at 71-75 Grafton Road from the jurisdiction of the Central Area Section of the district plan.

The plan change remains unchanged.
