Community notice boards

If you are a non-profit community group or organisation, you can use one of our community notice boards at minimal or no cost to advertise local services and events.

Notice boards are available across the Auckland region:

The notice should be in landscape format, will need to be a professionally written and on coreflute backing. between 5mm and 7mm thick.

Bookings and availability

To advertise on our community notice boards in central Auckland, you need to apply ahead of time.

Your non-profit group can book a space on any community notice board in central Auckland for a period of two or four weeks.

You can book notice boards at specific sites for a maximum of eight weeks per year. However you can only advertise for four weeks at any one time, at any one site.

We will send you a letter confirming the sites you have booked.

Delivery of notice boards

Write your name and organisation name on the back of your notice.

Put your notice boards in our delivery box at Mt Eden War Memorial Hall, 489 Dominion Road, Mt Eden. This box is attached to the garage at the Brixton Road entrance.

Removal and collection of your notice boards

When your advertising period ends, we will put your notice in the metallic 'out' box at the Mt Eden War Memorial Hall for collection. You will need to collect it within seven days of your last booking.

If you do not collect your notice, or advise us otherwise, we will dispose of it. We are likely to refuse future applications for advertising space.


North Auckland

There are no council operated community notice boards in north Auckland. Community notice boards are run by the facility they are next to.

To advertise on community notice boards in the northern suburbs of Auckland, contact the community facility or venue next to the notice board.


West Auckland

Specifications for signs

The notice should be in landscape format and the size specified next to the location below.

The material should be corflute or other suitable sturdy material. The advantage of corflute is that it can be used several times.

We recommend you use large lettering and as few words as possible.

Bookings and availability

To advertise on community notice boards in west Auckland, you will need to book ahead of time.

Hire is $10 per week and available on a first come, first served basis.

Your non-profit group can have no more than one space, per event, per site.

To ask about site availability or to make a booking contact us and ask to speak to the Events Operator.

Booking guidelines:

  • You cannot book the space more than three months in advance.
  • You cannot occupy the space for more than two weeks, unless the advertised event is running for more than one week. If available, your booking can be extended to a maximum of three weeks.
  • If you need a space for a longer period of time, if the space is free, you may book it a week before.
  • Please use only small screws, nails and staples to attach your sign. You may not use coach bolts.

Responsibilities of users

We provide the notice boards but the security of your signage rests with you.

  • The organisation using the notice board is responsible for erecting the sign.
  • Signs can be erected any time after noon on the day booked.
  • Signs must be taken down before 11am on the day after the event.
  • If a sign is still in place when another is due to be erected, it may be removed by the next user. If this happens, the owner must contact us to arrange for the used sign to be picked up.

Booking and availability

To book a community board location or street banner site, contact us.

  • There is no charge for using our community notice boards.
  • Cost for installation and removal of street banners is $450 including GST.

Booking guidelines:

  • Advertising must relate to a local-based event. Commercial advertising is not accepted.
  • Notices must be attached to tanalised construction plywood (1200 x 1200 x 12.5mm) or corflute (1200mm x 1200mm).
  • Each location is available for up to four weeks at a time. We may extend your time if demand is low.
  • You can book up to four notices at any one time.
  • You need to put up and remove your advertising on the dates agreed at the time of booking.
  • Council has the right to refuse notices or banners if they are considered inappropriate.
  • It is your responsibility to remove and collect your advertising materials at the end of your advertising period on the date agreed at the time of booking. We cannot store advertising materials for you.
