Murphy’s Bush

Murphy's Bush has the largest remaining stand of mature lowland bush in Auckland and the finest examples of mature Kahikatea (white pine) which are coniferous and endemic to New Zealand.


How to get there

From Downtown Auckland, take State Highway 1 south and then take exit 448 for State Highway 20 toward Manukau. Keep left at the fork, follow signs for Pakuranga and Redoubt Road and merge onto Redoubt Road. Take a slight right to stay on Redoubt Road and turn left onto Murphys Road.

Amenities and activities

There is a special car park for disabled visitors near the entrance to bush tracks that are suitable for wheel chairs.

Plant life
You can see many specimens of native trees including kahikatea, nikau groves, puriri, totara and rimu.



The park has a number of well-formed walking tracks through the bush. Walks take from 10 minutes to one hour and are suitable for everyone.
