Musick Point Esplanade Reserve is an 8.7ha natural heritage reserve encompassing a narrow band of steep coastal cliffs dominated by mature pohutukawa (Metrosideros excelsa). The point provides spectacular views from some of the best-preserved pohutukawa cliffs remaining in Auckland.


How to get there

From Downtown Auckland, take State Highway 1 and take exit 437 to merge onto the Southeastern Highway. Turn left onto Ti Rakau Drive (signs for Howick). Turn right onto Pakuranga Road. Turn left onto Bucklands Beach Road. At the roundabout, take first exit and stay on Bucklands Beach Road. Continue onto Clovelly Road. Turn right at Musick Point Road.

Amenities and activities

Musick Point Esplanade Reserve surrounds the Musick Point aeradio Station, which was opened in 1942 and named after pioneer aviator, Captain Edwin C Musick. MusickPoint is owned by the Crown and Telecom maintains a leasehold interest in the Radio Station and the area around it.
