The Regional Plan: Farm Dairy Discharges, which was made operative in May 1999, outlines mechanisms the former ARC selected to avoid, remedy or mitigate adverse effects of dairy farm washwater on the environment.
Auckland Council is currently developing a unitary plan for the Auckland region and the Regional Plan: Farm Dairy Discharges is being reviewed through this process.
